2015-16 RRAC SID of the Year

2015-16 RRAC Sports Information Director of the Year
Patty Constantin, Our Lady of the Lake

WACO, Texas – For the second consecutive year, Patty Constantin of Our Lady of the Lake University is the choice for RRAC Sports Information Director of the Year. Her 2015-16 award is a credit to Constantin's continuous efforts to improve the promotion of  OLLU's athletic program and its student-athletes.

Constantin was selected in a vote by conference peers with all RRAC member SIDs voting. The award recognizes the individual who has performed the best at promoting their school's athletics, collaborating with fellow SIDs, serving the conference, maintaining timely and accurate information, driving media coverage, conducting gameday operations, and expanding social media outreach.

has served OLLU in all nine years of their athletic department's existence, shepherding it from a fledgling program to the RRAC's All-Sports Trophy champions for three years running.

"I'm very pleased that Patty has been recognized as the SID of the Year for the second straight year by her peers in the RRAC," said OLLU Athletic Director Jack Hank. "She is a great asset to OLLU, our athletic department and the conference. To have someone with her knowledge and experience supervising the sports information area at OLLU is a tremendous advantage. The athletic department appreciates everything she does to ensure we have a first class Sports Information Department.

Always on the cutting edge, Patty, along with assistant Luis Larraga, turned much of her focus to video content and social media this year. While she has already developed OLLU into a powerhouse on social media, the efforts were enhanced with themed posts such as #SaintsGameDay and #Saints PostGame. She also oversaw the creation of the OLLU Saints SnapChat Geo Filter, putting OLLU in the same company as major brands.

Constantin also expanded OLLU's live streaming with games broadcast on YouTube with highlights and postgame interviews on the Saints' YouTube channel. She was also the executive producer on an original film on OLLU's volleyball team, entitled "A Retrospective: 2015 OLLU Volleyball Conference Tournament." Online, Constantin even animated team rosters with gif files in baseball and golf to better showcase the Saints' student-athletes.

Constantin's role with the RRAC increased as OLLU hosted three conference championship events (cross country, volleyball, and track & field) during the 2015-16 seasons. She also generated the most San Antonio media coverage that the program has received, building on national championship appearances by multiple teams and a #1 national ranking for the women's basketball team.

From the innovative tasks to the blocking and tackling of the SID profession, Constantin has become one of the leaders in the industry.

"Patty and her staff do an exceptional job in both promoting OLLU athletics and the Red River Athletic Conference," comments Paul Ebner, SID at Houston-Victoria. "She and her staff are on top of their game when it comes to providing games stats and any other helpful information you need. I feel she is well deserving of this honor."

Constantin brings more than 30 years of public relations experience to OLLU. In addition to winning consecutive RRAC SID of the Year awards, she has been honored as the San Antonio Public Relations Professional of the Year (2011), OLLU's selection for the Rosemary Saenz Staff Excellence Award (2011), and the Women in Communications National Clarion Award (2009).

This is the third year for the RRAC SID of the Year award. Mark Cantrell of LSU Shreveport was the first recipient in 2013-14.
