Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week
April 29, 2008

WACO, Texas –
Kyle Harmon of Texas Wesleyan University emerged as the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 21-27, while his teammate, Hayden Lackey, claimed his second consecutive RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week award for the same dates.

Harmon, a junior catcher from Winter Park, Fla., belted a pair of home runs and drove in three runs in a 4-0 week for the Rams. His pinch-hit homer in the eighth inning secured a 4-2 win over the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and his two-run bomb in the second game of a doubleheader with Lousiana State University-Alexandria set the course toward a 7-1 victory. TWU capped the season at 37-12 overall. The Rams had already captured the top seed in the RRAC tournament with a 14-1 conference mark.

Lackey, a senior reliever from Duncanville, Texas, threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings across two games. In a non-conference game against Wiley College (Texas), he earned the victory with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of work as the Rams won, 4-3, in extra innings. On Saturday, he recorded his school-record 23rd career save in a 6-3 defeat of LSU-Alexandria in the first game of that doubleheader. The appearance was the 100th of his career and moved him within one of the all-time NAIA record.
