October 16, 2007

WACO, Texas –
Texas Wesleyan University’s Leo Cubrilo and Northwood University’s (Texas) Marcos Diaz earned a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 8-14, while Northwood’s Ranger Parrish was named the conference’s top defensive player for the same dates.

Cubrilo, a freshman forward from Sarajevo, Bosnia, accounted for two goals as TWU won three conference matches last week. He booted in a goal in a 3-0 win over Bacone College (Okla.) and netted the game-winner in a 3-2 victory over Northwood. The Rams moved from fourth to second place in the conference at 4-1-1, and they are 8-6-2 on the season.

Diaz, a senior forward from Oak Cliff, Texas, led Northwood to a 1-1 week with five total points. He assisted on a goal in the loss to TWU and scored both of the Knights’ goals in a 2-0 win over Texas College. Northwood is now 3-2 in the RRAC and 4-9-1 overall.

Parrish, a sophomore defender from Irving, Texas, helped Northwood secure the shutout against TC and contributed two assists. He added another assist in the loss to TWU.
