RRAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week
October 23, 2007

WACO, Texas –
Frank Toscano of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) and Mark McCormick of the University of Texas-Brownsville earned a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 15-21. UTB’s David Purser and Chris Sotelo of Northwood University (Texas) split the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates.

Toscano, a sophomore forward from Houston, Texas, scored three goals as the Rams won a pair of games last week. He accounted for one of HTU’s goals in a 2-0 win over Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) and provided the difference with two goals in a 3-1 win over Northwood University (Texas).

McCormick, a senior forward from Newmans, Scotland, posted a total of 10 points in three matches last week with three goals and four assists. In a 9-1 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), he accounted for a pair of goals and three assists. McCormick also chipped in an assist in a victory over Texas College and a goal in a loss to the University of St. Thomas (Texas.)

Purser, a junior defender from Boston, England, led UTB’s defense as it held TC to one goal in their conference-clinching 3-1 win. Unfortunately, he was injured late in the game and unable to play against SAGU on Saturday.

Sotelo, a freshman defender from Austin, Texas, helped stymie Bacone College (Okla.) in a shutout victory and chipped in an assist en route to a 4-0 win. He also contributed in a 3-2 loss to HTU.

Dustin Hollier of Northwood was an additional nominee for this week’s offensive award.
