RRAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week

WACO, Texas –
Lena Candia of University of Texas-Brownsville was honored with the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for the dates of Sept. 3-9, and Danielle Parks of Texas Wesleyan University received RRAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week recognition.     

Candia, a junior midfielder/forward from Malmo, Sweden, earned her second consecutive weekly award with three more goals in a 2-2 week for the Scorpions. She knocked in a pair of goals in a 5-0 victory over St. Gregory’s University (Okla.) and accounted for UTB’s only goal in a 5-1 loss to Oklahoma Baptist University. UTB is 1-0 in conference play and 3-2 on the season.

Parks, a junior defender from Mansfield, Texas, led the defensive charge in a 2-1 week for TWU. In the Lady Rams’ victories over Mid-America Christian University (Okla.) and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas), she combined with her teammates to allow just 11 shots on goal. TWU moved to an overall record of 2-3-1.

Candice Reeves of TWU was an additional offensive nominee with a goal against UMHB.
