Candia, a junior midfielder/forward from Malmo, Sweden, added to her conference-leading goal total with four goals and two assists in two matches last week. She contributed a goal and an assist in the Scorpions’ 3-2 win over McPherson College (Kan.), then knocked in three goals with an assist on another to top York College (Neb.), 5-0. UTB moves to 5-2 on the season with all of its games played on the road to this point. Rootes, a freshman defender from Calgary, Alb., helped UTB hold its opponents to only a pair of goals in two games. Against York, Rootes and company didn’t allow a single shot on goal. Brianna McKernon of Texas Wesleyan University was also nominated for the offensive award with two goals and an assist in a victory over St. Gregory’s University (Okla.). Defender Danielle Parks of TWU was nominated in the defensive category. -RRAC- |
