RRAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week
October 2, 2007

WACO, Texas –
Evelyn Guzman of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) and Candice Reeves of Texas Wesleyan University were named Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week for Sept. 24-30, while Brittany O’Brien was selected as the RRAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the same span.

Guzman, a sophomore midfielder from Houston, booted in a pair of goals to lead HTU to its first conference victory in its first year of competition. The scoring output spurred HTU to a 3-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). Earlier in the week, Guzman was held scoreless as HTU suffered a 3-1 loss against Bacone College (Okla.). The Lady Rams are now 1-3 in conference action and 1-5 on the season.

Reeves, a freshman forward from Mansfield, Texas, provided the difference in TWU’s 2-1 win over University of Texas-Brownsville, its only game of the week. She netted the first goal and assisted on the game winner as TWU established a 2-0 conference mark and a 5-4-2 record overall. Reeves has accounted for nine points (three goals and three assists) in her last two games.

O’Brien, a junior goalkeeper from Colleyville, Texas, stopped 9-of-10 shots on goal in TWU’s victory over UTB to preserve the 2-1 win. She is recognized by the conference for the second consecutive week.

UTB’s Lena Candia was also nominated for the RRAC offensive award, and HTU’s Nicole Harris was a defensive nominee.
