RRAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week
October 9, 2007

WACO, Texas –
Tina Dreier of Northwood University (Texas) was selected as the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 1-7, and her teammate, Stephanie Jung, was recognized for her play as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Dreier, a junior forward from Merschwitz, Germany, accounted for six goals as Northwood won a pair of conference games last week. She placed two in the net en route to a 7-1 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) before scoring four in a 10-0 victory over College of the Southwest (N.M.). The scoring outburst raised her season total to 10 goals as the Lady Knights surged to 4-0 in conference play and 6-4-2 for the season.

Jung, a freshman goalkeeper from Troy, Ill., allowed just one ball to get past her in 125 minutes in goal last week for Northwood. The goal came in her 80 minutes of play against SAGU, and she kept CSW scoreless in 45 minutes of work. Jung has only surrendered three goals in her last five games, a stretch in which the Lady Knights have won four and tied one.

Lena Candia (UT-Brownsville), Evelyn Guzman (Huston-Tillotson University), Teresa Monsivais (Texas College) and Kly Randell (Texas Wesleyan University) were additional nominees for the offensive award, while Zaira Aguilar (HTU) and Brittany O’Brien (TWU) were nominated for the defensive honor.
