RRAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week
October 16, 2007

WACO, Texas –
Defenders Valerie Mendoza and Camille Luevano of Northwood University (Texas) formed a formidable duo last week and were named the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for Oct. 8-14.

Mendoza, a sophomore defender from Duncanville, Texas, played a key role in both of Northwood’s conference victories last week. She provided the difference with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Texas Wesleyan University, and assisted on the game-winner in a 3-2 win over Texas College. With the victories, the Lady Knights secured their first conference title since 2005. Northwood is 6-0 in conference play and 8-4-2 on the season.

Luevano, a senior defender from Duncanville, Texas, has been a central part of Northwood’s defense as it held on for the shutout against TWU and maintained the lead against Texas College. The Lady Knights have only allowed five goals in their last seven games.

TWU’s Loren Clark was also nominated for this week’s offensive award after she scored a pair of goals in a 5-0 victory over Huston-Tillotson University (Texas).
