RRAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week

WACO, Texas –
Lena Candia of University of Texas-Brownsville and Loren Clark of Texas Wesleyan University earned recognition as the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while UTB’s Christin Resing and TWU’s Holly Rowland were named the RRAC Co-Defensive Players of the Week for Oct. 15-21.

Candia, a junior midfielder from Malmo, Sweden, racked up a total of 17 points last week with seven goals and three assists in a pair of conference victories. She started with four goals and an assist in an 8-0 win over Texas College and continued with three goals and two assists in a 10-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). UTB completed the regular season at 10-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The Scorpions will be the third seed in the RRAC Women’s Soccer Championship.

Clark, a senior midfielder from Midlothian, Texas, played just one game last week but made the most of it with four goals and an assist in an 11-0 win over College of the Southwest (N.M.). She fired 13 shots including nine on goal in the match. In her four-year career at TWU, Clark has 30 goals and 76 points. TWU finished second in the RRAC at 5-1-1 with a mark of 8-6-3 on the season. 

Resing, a freshman defender from Vreden, Germany, stood out on defense for UTB in a pair of shutouts last week. Along with the rest of the UTB defense, she only allowed four shots on goal in the two games.

Rowland, a senior goalkeeper from Tulsa, Okla., recorded her fifth career shutout to earn the Lady Rams’ victory over CSW. She lowered her goals against average to 0.57 on the season and 1.27 in her four-year career with TWU.
