WACO, Texas – Talita Milasauskas of the University of Texas-Brownsville was named the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week following games played in the span of Sept. 3-9. Rachel Brown of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) earned the selection of RRAC Setter of the Week and Stephanie Castro of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) was singled out as the RRAC Libero of the Week.

Milasauskas, a freshman middle blocker from Sao Paulo, Brazil, headed up a 4-0 week for the Scorpions with 60 kills on 105 attempts with just 16 errors (.419 kill percentage). In a 3-0 victory over conference rival SAGU, she accounted for 22 kills on 26 attempts with two errors and added 14 kills in a sweep of Southern Nazarene University (Okla.). Milasauskas also chipped in 15 digs, 24 blocks and 15 service aces. UTB is 1-0 in conference play and 9-3 on the season.

Brown, a sophomore setter from New Braunfels, Texas, set the stage for a week in which the Lady Lions won four of six matches. In all, she contributed 188 assists (9.89 per game) including 52 in a four-game victory over the University of Dallas (Texas) and 38 to sweep SNU. The versatile Brown also had 71 digs and 22 kills. SAGU moved to 8-3 on the season with an 0-1 mark in the RRAC.

Castro, a sophomore libero from Austin, Texas, compiled 143 digs for the Lady Rams along with 13 service aces. She averaged 7.9 digs per game including 40 against Loyola University (La.) and 37 against Millsaps College. Castro committed just 16 receiving errors in 151 total attempts. HTU is now 0-9 on the season.

Sandra Ayala of TWU and Kelani Keoho of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) were additional player of the week nominees while Daianarah Bracero of UTB and Evoni Darling were nominated for setter of the week. Viviana Lozano and Ashley Mock were nominated for libero of the week.
