RRAC Volleyball Player, Setter and Libero of the Week

WACO, Texas –
Liz Meng of Texas Wesleyan University and Talita Milasauskas of the University of Texas-Brownsville earned a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award for Oct. 22-28, while Rachel Brown of Southwestern Assemblies of God was honored with the RRAC setter award and TWU’s Ashley Mock received the libero award for the same dates.

Meng, a senior right side hitter from Weatherford, Texas, averaged 4.6 kills per game as TWU finished with a 2-3 week through a difficult schedule. Meng powered 92 kills in all with just 17 errors in 210 total attempts (.357 hitting percentage). She accounted for 22 kills and 22 digs in a 3-1 win over Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) and added 21 and 12 in a 3-2 loss to Texas A&M International University. TWU remains atop the RRAC North Division standings at 9-0 with a mark of 24-14 on the season. 

Milasauskas, a freshman middle blocker from Sao Paulo, Brazil, propelled UTB to a 4-0 week when she was named to the all-tournament team at the Trinity University (Texas) Invitational. She broke the school record with 31 kills in the Scorpions’ 3-2 win over Trinity and racked up 81 kills for the week with a hitting percentage of .348. Milasauskas averaged 5.4 kills per game and provided 51 digs and six service aces. The Scorpions, ranked #20 in the NAIA, reached 27-6 overall and remain at 6-0 in conference play.

Brown, a sophomore setter from New Braunfels, Texas, posted at least 40 assists in each of SAGU’s matches last week as the Lady Lions went 3-0 including a pair of conference contests. She reached 40 and 42 in sweeps of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) and LeTourneau University (Texas) before setting 51 in a 3-2 win over College of the Southwest (N.M.). In addition to 133 total assists, Brown also contributed 39 digs for the week. The Lady Lions moved to 3-3 in conference play and 23-8 on the season.

Mock, a senior libero from Azle, Texas, is no stranger to weekly awards, winning for the eighth time this season. This time around, she racked up 143 digs in five matches with a high of 40 in a 3-1 loss to Southwestern University. Mock also accounted for 39 in the Lady Rams’ loss to TAMIU. She posted a service percentage of .920 and a reception percentage of .906.
