Texas – The University of
Texas at Brownsville’s Talita Milasauskas was recognized as the
Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct.
29-Nov. 4, while her teammate, Daianarah Bracero, was named the RRAC
Setter of the Week and Huston-Tillotson University’s (Texas) Stephanie
Castro earned the conference’s Libero of the Week honor.
Milasauskas, a
freshman middle blocker from Sao Paulo, Brazil, collected her fifth
triple-double of the season as UTB came within an eyelash of knocking
off NCAA Division I opponent, UT-Pan American, in the Scorpions’ only
match of the week. She connected for 28 kills on 71 attempts with 13
errors, while contributing 20 digs and 10 blocks as UTB lost in five
games. As the season comes to a close, Milasauskas has established
school records for kills (527) and blocks (201) in a season in addition
to leading the conference in aces and blocks.
Bracero, a junior setter from Sabana Grande, P.R., surpassed the
60-assist mark for the third time this season in UTB’s meeting with UTPA.
She finished the match with 61 assists along with 10 digs and four
kills. Bracero set the UTB season record for assists with 1,449, and she
is the RRAC leader in that category. The Scorpions completed their
regular season at 6-0 in conference play and 27-7 overall.
Castro, a sophomore libero from Austin, Texas, compiled 78 digs in a
losing effort as the Lady Rams lost all five of their matches last week.
She committed 13 receiving errors in 150 total attempts with a .913
reception percentage. Castro has been a bright spot in a 0-34 season for
HTU with a 0-6 mark in the RRAC.
