WACO, Texas -- Jacobie Bias of Texas College picked up the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for games played over the dates of Feb. 8-14.
Bias, a junior guard/forward from Beaumont, Texas, propelled the Steers to victories over two of their top three rivals for in the conference race. He poured in 23 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists in an 86-76 victory over University of the Southwest (N.M), which is currently fourth in the RRAC standings. Bias added 21 points and three boards to topple the conference leader, Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), 86-75, on Saturday. Overall, he connected on 18-of-26 shots from the field (69.2%). Texas College is tied for second in the conference at 11-3 and 16-7 on the season.
Additional nominees included Alexander Cossey of Wiley College (Texas), Darrell Glover of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas), Alvin Lewis of Langston University (Okla.) and Jamel White of Texas Wesleyan University.
