WACO, Texas -- Ashley Bell of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) stood out as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the dates of Feb. 15-21.
Bell, a senior center from Beaumont, Texas, posted averages of 27.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as the Lady Rams won a pair of games last week. She scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds as HT edged Texas College, 69-68. Bell followed with her seventh double-double of the season -- 29 points, 16 rebounds -- in a 70-66 victory over University of the Southwest (N.M.). For the week, she made 24-of-34 shots from field goal range (70.6%). The Lady Rams are 8-18 on the season.
Others receiving nominations this week included Ashley Davis of Texas Wesleyan University, Nekia Hicks of Wiley College (Texas), Niocha Hishaw of Jarvis Christian College (Texas), Sanetra Jackson of Langston University (Okla.) and Krystal Manning of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas).
