San Antonio, Texas -- Our Lady of the Lake's softball team is riding a 10-0 mark in its first year of conference playheading into a slate of conference games next week. In addition to putting their perfect conference record on the line, there is a special purpose to the Lady Saints' games next week against Texas Wesleyan. The doubleheader games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on March 16 will be dedicated to breast cancer awareness.

OLLU Head Softball Coach Marie Stone wanted to sponsor this special program because awareness campaigns provide education about breast cancer and early detection. According to statistics released by the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers.

Attendees at the games will have the opportunity to pick up brochures about the disease as well as participate in drawings for prizes. Food, including fajitas, turkey legs, hamburgers, refreshments and other snacks, will be sold by Bobby G's Old School Barbeque. The catering company is owned by Bobby Salinas, father of Saints' third baseman Bianca Salinas. All revenues will be donated to the breast cancer awareness fund.
