WACO, Texas - Taylor Jones of Northwood University (Texas) earned recognition as the Red River Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for March 15-21, while Tiffany Stritz of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) garnered the RRAC Softball Pitcher of the Week award for the same dates.

Jones, a freshman pitcher from Plano, Texas, was 7-for-12 at the plate with five RBIs in a 3-1 week for the Lady Knights. She went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs in a 13-0 victory over the University of the Southwest (N.M.) before hitting a double and driving in another run in a 9-1 defeat of the Lady Mustangs. Jones also had a pair of hits in a double-header split with Friends University (Kan.). She scored four runs on the week and walked twice. Northwood is tied for second in the conference at 6-2 with a mark of 11-12 overall.

 

Stritz, a junior pitcher from Houston, Texas, tossed a three-hit complete game shutout to sink Oklahoma Baptist University, 4-0. She struck out three and walked one in seven innings of work. The Lady Saints lead the RRAC at 12-2 with a mark of 16-8 on the season. 

Haley Butler of Texas Wesleyan University and OLLU's Corina Noel were additional player nominees, while TWU's Deanna Freeman and Northwood's Larissa Garcia were nominated for pitcher of the week.
