WACO, Texas -- Jeff Sakowski of Northwood University (Texas) earned selection as the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for March 22-28, while Kyle Burright of Texas College was named the RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the same dates.
 
Sakowski, a senior outfielder from Arlington, Texas, belted three home runs and drove in 12 runs in a 4-0 week for the Knights. He hit for the cycle in the first game of a three-game series with Dallas Christian College (Texas) while going 4-for-6 at the plate. In the second game, Sakowski added two homers while driving in six runs in a 21-3 victory. Earlier in the week, on one official at-bat against Bacone College (Okla.), he managed to score three runs while reaching base four times on walks in a 9-8 win. For the week, he went 8-for-13 at the plate with 10 runs scored as Northwood moved to 2-1 in conference play and 28-7 on the season.
 
Burright, a senior pitcher from Portland, Ore., threw a complete-game, four-hitter to defeat University of Texas-Brownsville, 3-0. He struck out six hitters and walked none as the Steers moved to 3-3 in the RRAC and 9-26 overall.
   
UTB's Walter Blume, Mikey Horn of Texas Wesleyan University, TC's George Rose and Danny Zorrilla of Wiley College (Texas) were additional player of the week nominees. TWU's Joey Evans and Wiley's Ismael Marcano were also nominated for this week's pitcher award.
