WACO, Texas -- Brian Bustos of the University of Texas-Brownsville powered his way to Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week recognition for March 29-April 4, while David Pooler of Bacone College (Okla.) had a nearly flawless outing to win RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Bustos, a senior first baseman from El Paso, Texas, homered in each game over the weekend as the Scorpions won two of three against RRAC foe Huston-Tillotson University (Texas). He opened with a 5-for-6 hitting performance including three-extra base hits and a team-record seven RBIs as UTB won, 19-5. He tacked on one solo homer in the middle game before exploding again in the final game with three hits and five RBIs. He finished the week going 9-for-13 at the plate with 13 RBIs and a slugging percentage of 1.538. UTB advances to 4-2 in the RRAC South with an overall mark of 21-17.

Pooler, a freshman pitcher from Palm City, Fla., tossed a complete-game, one-hitter to earn a victory and close out a three game sweep over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), 13-0. In seven innings of work, he struck out nine and walked one as the Warriors improved to 4-5 in the RRAC North and 16-22 on the season.

Kyle Frasard of Texas Wesleyan University, Bacone's Yasel Gomez, HT's Jaminson Lewis, Hector Rivera of Wiley College (Texas) and George Rose of Texas College were also nominated for player of the week, while UTB's Danny Gidora and Wiley's George Rivera were additional pitcher of the week nominees.
