LSUA's Gordillo earns RRAC women's tennis player of the week

WACO, Texas – Paula Gordillo of LSU Alexandria (La.) became the fourth member of the Generals to earn recognition as the RRAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week this season, collecting the honor for April 3-9. This is the eighth weekly award of the 2017 women's tennis season.

Gordillo breezed through both her singles matches in a 1-1 week for LSUA. The junior from Madrid, Spain, won as the #6 seed (6-1, 6-2) as the Generals took their first loss of the season against 10th-ranked William Carey University (Miss.). Gordillo also won as the #5 seed (6-0, 6-0) in a victory over Brenau University (Ga.). She also combined with Maria Emilia Montenegro in an 8-4 doubles loss to WCU and she teamed up with Ariadna Cabezas in an 8-3 loss to Brenau. Gordilla is 5-2 in singles and 9-4 in doubles this season. LSUA, which is ranked 11th nationally, holds a 14-1 record on the season.
