HT's Palacios, Wiley's Myers collect this week's RRAC women's soccer awards

WACO, Texas – Kimberlin Palacios of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) was named the recipient of the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Sept. 25-Oct. 1, while Keri Myers of Wiley College (Texas) earned the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the sixth set of conference awards for the 2017 women's soccer season.

Palacios scored twice in both of the Rams' victories last week. The senior forward knocked in a pair of goals in a 12-0 trouncing over Texas College, and she tacked on two more and an assist en route to a 5-0 victory over Jarvis Christian College (Texas). Palacios is tied for first in the RRAC with nine goals, and she is second in points with 20. HT is tied for first in the conference at 3-0 with a perfect 7-0 record overall. 

Myers posted her first two shutouts of the season in a pair of wins for the Wildcats last week. The senior goalkeeper stopped three shots on goal to secure a 1-0 victory over University of the Southwest (N.M.) on Friday. She followed on Saturday with 10 saves in a 5-0 win over Paul Quinn College (Texas). Myers is 3-1 on the season with a 0.50 goals against average, which is fourth best in the RRAC. The Wildcats are 2-0 in conference play and 4-2 on the season.
