USW's Adams, Ramirez claim RRAC weekly cross country awards

WACO, Texas – Alexandria Adams of University of the Southwest (N.M.) earned recognition as the RRAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1, while USW's Gilbert Ramirez was honored as the RRAC Men's Runner of the Week for the same dates. This is the fourth set of conference awards for the 2017 cross country season.

Adams finished 31st in the New Mexico Junior College Invite on Friday. The sophomore from Alamogordo, N.M., ran the 5K event with a time of 22:31 against a field of 52 runners. 

Ramirez placed 26th in a field of 56 competitors in the men's event at the NMJCI. The junior from Albuquerque, N.M., registered a time of 27:35 in the 8K distance.
