 WACO, Texas -- For the second consecutive time, Arlene Ferreira of the University of Texas-Brownsville was recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, winning the award for the dates of Sept. 22-28.  Ferreira also shares RRAC Hitter of the Week honors with Brittani Toole of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). SAGU's Rachel Brown and Eloisa Nava of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) were named RRAC Co-Setters of the Week and HT's Taneshia Harmon earned RRAC Libero of the Week.
 Ferreira, a sophomore outside hitter from Uberlandia, Brazil, made the most of her only match of the week with 14 kills on 20 attempts with one error as UTB topped Bacone College (Okla.), 3-0. Along with a hitting percentage of .650, she had eight digs and two blocks. The Scorpions, now ranked 12th in the NAIA, improved to 3-0 in conference play and 14-1 overall.

Toole, a junior middle hitter from Whitehouse, Texas, blasted 46 kills for the Lady Lions on 84 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .429. She had 18 kills and 15 digs against Wiley. SAGU moves to 14-2 on the season with a 2-1 mark in the RRAC.

Brown, a senior setter from Seguin, Texas, wins for the third consecutive week with 10.1 assists per game in three matches. She had 30 each in SAGU wins over Jarvis Christian College (Texas) and Texas College then added 41 in athe 3-1 loss to Wiley. Brown also contributed 24 digs.

Nava, a sophomore setter from Los Fresnos, Texas, averaged 5.3 assists per game in a 2-3 week for the Rams. She racked up 28 assists against Schreiner College (Texas), and she had 27 against Southwestern College (Kan.). Nava also scooped 46 digs for HT, which moves to 1-1 in the RRAC and 2-14 on the season.

Harmon, a freshman libero from Killeen, Texas, piled up 71 digs for the Rams including a high of 23. She committed only 15 receiving errors in 112 total attempts for a reception percentage of .866.
