WACO, Texas --Lateah Lucero of Texas Wesleyan University emerged as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 28-Oct. 4,
while Jodie Hunter of University of Texas-Brownsville and Kat Kirsch of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) were selected as RRAC Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Players of the Week for the same dates.
Lucero, a junior forward from Pilot Point, Texas, notched a goal in both of the Lady Rams' wins last week. She capped the scoring in a 3-0 victory over Bacone College (Okla.) and started a barrage in the fifth minute as TWU rolled to a 7-1 win over Texas College. The Lady Rams are atop the RRAC standings at 2-0 and 8-3.
Kirsch, a freshman goalkeeper from Georgetown, Texas, accounted for nine saves in 110 minutes in goal as OLLU forged a 0-0 tie against in its first conference match. UTB outshot the Saints, 28-5 as Kirsch held on. The Saints are 3-4-2 on the season.
Hunter, a freshman defender from Batley, England, was the counterpart to Kirsch in the tie, harassing OLLU all game long. Of the five shots allowed by UTB, only two were on goal. The Scorpions are 0-0-1 in conference play and 3-3-2 overall.
