WACO, Texas -- Taylor Calverley of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) was recognized as a double award winner with the Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week and Setter of the Week honors for Oct. 3-9. SAGU's Jessica Sodich collected the RRAC Hitter of the Week award and Paula Barros of the University of Texas-Brownsville claimed the RRAC Libero of the Week honor for the same dates.

Calverley, a sophomore setter from Mansfield, Texas, averaged 11.5 assists per game in a 3-0 week for the Lady Lions. She had highs of 35 assists and 15 digs in a 3-0 sweep at Southwestern Christian University (Okla.) and added 32 assists against Mid-America Christian University (Okla.). In all, she had 92 assists and 32 digs for the week. SAGU's conference record held at 3-1 while the Lady Lions improved to 14-8 on the season.

Sodich, a freshman outside hitter from Ovilla, Texas, compiled 33 kills in 75 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .293 for SAGU. She reached double digits in both kills and digs in two matches against SWCU (home and away) and finished with 29 digs for the week.

Barros, a junior libero from Sao Paulo, Brazil, accounted for 39 digs as UTB rolled in two conference matches. She had 23 in a sweep of Bacone College (Okla.) and 16 against the University of the Southwest (N.M.). She committed just one receiving error in 17 total attempts for the top-ranked Scorpions. UTB is now 4-0 in the RRAC and 18-0 overall.

Angelica Arroyo of Texas Wesleyan University, TWU's Alex Hendee, UTB's Danica Markovic and Margaret Nurse of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) were also nominated for player/hitter of the week. Arroyo, UTB's Amber Brooks and OLLU's Elyse Escobar were setter nominees, while TWU's Stephanie Dominguez, SAGU's Laura Espinoza and OLLU's Bryttany Willoughby were libero nominees.
