WACO, Texas -- Karla Valles of Texas College was the recipient of the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 5-11, and Jodie Hunter of the University of Texas-Brownsville garnered the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week award for the same dates.

Valles, a freshman midfielder from El Paso, Texas, recorded a hat trick with three goals and an assist in the Lady Steers' 5-1 victory over Huston-Tilloton University (Texas). With the win, TC improved to 2-2 in the RRAC standings with a record of 3-6 on the season.

Hunter, a freshman defender from Batley, England, helped UTB win a pair of conference games on the road as the anchor of the Scorpions' defense. She helped blank the University of the Southwest (N.M.), 3-0, and led the way to a 2-1 squeaker over Texas Wesleyan University. UTB advanced to a 2-0-1 conference mark and 5-3-2 overall.
