TWU Runners Race to Weekly Cross Country Awards

WACO, Texas -- Jessica Davis of Texas Wesleyan University earned the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award for Oct. 10-16, while TWU's Andrew Herrera received the conference's men's honor for the same dates.

Davis, a sophomore from Dallas, finished seventh in a field of 128 runners at the Concordia Invitational. Her time of 18:43 in the 5K event was the best of any runner from the NAIA and led TWU to fifth place in the team competition.

Herrera, a junior from Fort Worth, Texas, was the top NAIA finisher for the men at the Concordia Invitational, placing fifth in a field of 105. He ran the 5K distance in a time of 15:42 as TWU's men's squad finished third.

Jairus Kipkemoi of Wiley College (Texas) was also nominated for this week's men's award.
