WACO, Texas -- Arlene Ferreira of the University of Texas-Brownsville added more honors to her collection with her selections as the Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week and Hitter of the Week for Oct. 19-25. Ferreira's teammate, Daianarah Bracero, was named the RRAC Setter of the Week and Chelsy Covington of Texas Wesleyan University was this week's Libero of the Week selection.

Ferreira, a sophomore outside hitter from Uberlandia, Brazil, received her fifth player of the week award of the season and third consecutive with 27 kills and 25 digs as UTB won two more conference matches. She recorded 11 kills in a victory over Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) and she compiled 16 kills and 15 digs to sink Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), 3-0. Ferreira posted a hitting percentage of .500 while averaging 4.5 kills per game. Ranked ninth nationally, the Scorpions are first in the RRAC at 13-0 with a 26-1 record overall.

Bracero, a senior setter from Sabana Grande, P.R., combined with Ferreira on many of her 60 assists this week. Another multiple award winner from UTB, Bracero averaged 10.0 per game including 35 assists against OLLU. She also contributed six kills and two digs.

Covington, a sophomore libero from Hutto, Texas, continued her strong defensive play with 38 digs in a pair of matches for the Lady Rams last week. She notched a career-high with 28 digs in a 3-2 win over Bacone College (Okla.) in addition to three aces and three kills.
