WACO, Texas -- Eric Frederick of Texas Wesleyan University claimed the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for the dates of Jan. 16-22.
Frederick, a senior forward from Oklahoma City, averaged 29.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Rams. He scored 30 and grabbed eight rebounds in a 105-79 win over the University of the Southwest (N.M.). He then notched his seventh double-double of the season with 28 points and 13 boards in a 79-69 win at Langston University (Okla.). For the week, Frederick shot 66.7% (20-of-30) from the field, 50% (6-of-12) from three-point range and 92.3% (12-of-13) from the free throw line.
Other nominees included Eric Clayton of Langston University (Okla.), Maurese Jackson of Jarvis Christian College (Texas), Derrick Parker of LSU Shreveport, Jamal Robertson of Texas College, Richard Simon of Wiley College (Texas) and Ricardo Zanini of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas).
