USW's Buckhanan, LSUS' Henry Share Weekly Women's Hoops Award

WACO, Texas -- Simone Buckhanan of the University of the Southwest (N.M.) and Sharde Henry of LSU Shreveport were recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for the dates of Feb. 20-26.
Buckhanan, a senior guard from Rio Rancho, N.M., averaged 28.5 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Lady Mustangs. She scored 35 points with nine rebounds in a 112-109 victory at Bacone College (Okla.), and notched 22 points and four assists in an 85-81 win over Texas Wesleyan University. For the week, she connected on 16-of-37 shots from the field (43%) and 24-of-28 from the free throw line (86%). USW is 5-19 in conference play and 10-20 on the season.
Henry, a junior forward from Lake Charles, La., registered 24.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Lady Pilots. She accounted for 22 points and seven boards in a loss to Jarvis Christian College (Texas). Henry then scored 26 points and pulled down 15 boards in a 72-63 win over Wiley College (Texas). She made 58% of her field goal attempts (15-of-26) and 85% of her free throws (17-of-20). LSUS is 20-3 in the RRAC and 22-7 overall.
Keyara Criner of Texas College, Victoria Felix of Langston University (Okla.), Octavia Mullins of Texas Wesleyan University, and Latika Smith of Wiley were also nominated for this week's award.
