WACO, Texas -- Jaimie Romaguera of Texas Wesleyan University and Helen Wagstaff of the University of Texas at Brownsville received a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 19-25, while UTB's Chelsea Maidment was honored as the RRAC Defensive Player of the week for the same dates.
Romaguera, a senior midfielder from Arlington, Texas, knocked in her team-leading 11th goal of the season to pace a 3-0 victory over the University of the Southwest (N.M.) on Saturday. She also added an assist later in the match as the Lady Rams moved to 4-2 in the conference and 11-5 on the season.
Wagstaff, a sophomore midfielder from Heckmondwike, England, netted her first two goals of the season in a 6-1 defeat of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas). Entering this week, she also leads the Scorpions in assists with seven. UTB held on to second place in the RRAC standings at 6-0-1 with a mark of 9-3-2 on the season.
Maidment, a freshman defender from Aurora, Ont., headed up a Scorpion defense that only allowed five shots and one goal in two conference contests. HT managed three shots (two on goal), while Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) could only muster two shots (none on goal) in a 1-0 loss.
