WACO, Texas -- Manny Estrada of LSU Shreveport and Colby Henscey of the University of Texas-Brownsville earned a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week award for March 12-18, while Aldo Montoya of Texas College and Adam Vera of UTB earned a split of this week's RRAC Pitcher of the Week honor.

Estrada, a junior shortstop from New Orleans, is recognized for the second time this season after compiling five doubles and five RBIs as the Pilots won all four of their games last week. He had exactly two hits in each game including a 2-for-3 effort with an RBI in a game against Southern Arkansas University. He backed that up with six hits in a three-game sweep of Northwood University (Texas), closing the series with a home run and three RBIs en route to a 16-6 victory. For the week, Estrada was 8-for-14 with five runs scored and three walks. LSUS is 11-3 in conference play and 23-3 on the season.

Henscey, a sophomore rightfielder from Belvieu, Texas, scored six times and drove in five runs as the Scorpions went 4-0 last week. He finished strong with three hits in each of the last two games of a three-game sweep over Wiley College (Texas). In the second game of the series, he was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and he closed with a 3-for-4 performance with a double, homer and three RBIs. For the week, Henscey was 7-for-11 hitting with two doubles and three walks. UTB is one spot ahead of LSUS in the RRAC standings at 13-2 with a mark of 23-10 overall.

Montoya, a junior pitcher from Los Angeles, tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout for a 2-0 victory over Texas Wesleyan University. In nine innings of work, he struck out four and walked three in the first game of a three-game series. The Steers are now 6-7-1 in the conference and 13-16-1 on the season.

Vera, a junior pitcher from Brownsville, Texas, posted a five-hit shutout to defeat Wiley, 15-0. In his seven innings on the mound, Vera struck out 10 hitters and walked none. Vera is now tied for first in the NAIA with seven wins this season.

Derelle Owens of the University of the Southwest (N.M.) and Alex Padilla of TWU were additional player of the week nominees. Nolan Barbee of TWU, Jared Mortensen of LSUS, and Ernie Torres of USW were also nominated for pitcher of the week.
