WACO, Texas -- Kelani Daniels of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) earned the Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award and a share of the conference's Hitter of the Week award for the dates of Oct. 26-Nov. 1. Darly Castillo of Wiley College (Texas) split the HOW honor with Daniels, while Wiley's Eileen Burbano was named RRAC Setter of the Week and Texas Wesleyan University's Kristina Harris was recognized as the RRAC Libero of the Week.
Daniels, a senior outside hitter from El Paso, Texas, propelled SAGU to a 2-1 week with a hitting percentage of .423. She accounted for 37 kills, 28 digs and 13 service aces. In a five-set loss to Wiley, she delivered 23 kills and 20 digs. The Lady Lions are currently third in the conference at 9-4 with a 22-6 mark overall.
Castillo, a sophomore middle blocker from Cali, Colombia, helped the Lady Wildcasts maintain their hold on second in the RRAC with a 4-0 week and three conference victories. She recorded 54 kills on 68 total attacks with only seven errors for a hitting percentage of .691. Her biggest matches came with 17 kills against TWU and 14 in the battle with SAGU. She also had 17 digs and six service aces as Wiley elevated to 13-2 in RRAC play and 19-4 on the season.
Burbano, a sophomore setter from Cali, Colombia, supplied 162 assists for Wiley including a high of 56 against SAGU and 40 against TWU. She averaged 10.8 assists per game and she contributed 33 digs.
Harris, a senior defensive specialist from Cleburne, Texas, scooped 38 digs and had only one receiving error in a 2-1 week for the Lady Rams. She posted 15 digs in a win over Jarvis Christian College (Texas) and 16 in the loss to Wiley.
