WACO, Texas -- Amber Arceneaux-Francis of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) and Sharde Henry of LSU Shreveport were selected as Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for the dates of Jan. 7-13. This is the 11th weekly award of the season.
Arceneaux-Francis, a senior forward from Houston, averaged 26.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Lady Celts. She posted 28 points and 12 boards to help turn back Huston-Tillotson University (Texas), 70-62. Arceneaux-Francis also accounted for 24 points and nine rebounds in a 75-70 setback at Langston University (Okla.). She connected on 16-of-34 shots from the field and 20-of-24 from the free throw line for the week. UST is now 5-4 in conference play and 8-8 on the season.
Henry, a senior forward from Lake Charles, La., made 20-of-35 field goal attempts including six three-pointers in a 2-1 week for the Lady Pilots. She scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a defeat against Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) before notching 23 points and 11 boards in a 71-57 win over Jarvis Christian College (Texas). Henry also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds in a victory over the University of the Southwest (N.M.). She also contributed 14 assists for the week as LSUS improved to 7-2 in the RRAC and 12-3 overall.
Aliesha Carruthers of Wiley College (Texas), Victoria Felix of Langston, Kayla McCray of Texas Wesleyan University, and Nashae Owens of OLLU were additional nominees.
