WACO, Texas -- Brandon Davis of LSU Shreveport and Bryan Kaase of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) earned recognition as Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for Feb. 18-24. This is the 15th and final weekly award of the season.
Davis, a junior forward from Pomona, Calif., closed out the final week of the season with 21.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Pilots. He recorded 17 points and nine boards in a win over Texas Wesleyan University last Monday then registered a double-double with 23 and 10 against Jarvis Christian College (Texas). In a match-up against UST, he racked up 23 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort. For the week, Davis was 23-of-45 from the field (51.1%). The Pilots closed out the regular season with a mark of 17-5 in conference play and a 22-6 record overall.
Kaase, a junior forward from Spring, Texas, achieved a pair of double-doubles in a 3-0 week for the Celts. He opened with 16 points in a victory over Paul Quinn College (Texas) then compiled 23 points and 10 rebounds to defeat Huston-Tillotson University (Texas), 92-82. Kaase then led UST to the 83-76 triumph over LSUS with 21 points and 13 boards. For the week, he connected on 23-of-43 field goal attempts and dished out six assists. UST finished at 17-5 in the RRAC and 24-6 on the season.
Oscar Griffin of TWU and Tom Wamukota of Wiley College (Texas) were additional nominees.
