WACO, Texas -- Demetrius Evans of University of the Southwest (N.M.) earned recognition as the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance over the dates of Nov. 30-Dec. 6.

Evans, a sophomore forward from Chicago, established a new school record for points in a game with 40 on 15-of-19 shooting from the field in a 91-62 loss to NCAA Division I opponent, University of North Texas. He also contributed seven rebounds, four steals and a pair of three-pointers against the Mean Green. Later in the week, Evans accounted for 16 points and five boards in a loss to New Mexico Highlands University to finish shooting 63.6% from field goal range in the two games. He also collected four more steals and connected on 12-of 14 free throw attempts as the Mustangs slipped to 2-5 on the season.

Other nominees included Trey Manning of Texas College and Marquis Wright of Wiley College (Texas).
