WACO, Texas -- Alexander Cossey of Wiley College (Texas) garnered recognition as the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the dates of Dec. 7-13 as announced by the conference today.

Cossey, a sophomore guard from Chicago, delivered a pair of 20-point outings as the Wildcats won both games as host of the Wiley Classic tournament. He poured in 23 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 72-69 victory over Southern University-New Orleans (La.) then tacked on 21 points and five boards to topple Xavier University (La.), 67-61, in overtime. For the tournament, Cossey connected on 16-of-37 shots from field goal range including three three-pointers. He also chipped in seven assists and three steals for the 4-5 Wildcats.

Hector Mukweyi of Texas Wesleyan University was also nominated for this week's award.
