Martinez is the first NAIA Player of the Week for the 2009-10 season.
WACO, Texas -- Robert Martinez of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) opened the new year with a big performance and received the first Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for 2010 as well as national recognition as the NAIA Player of the Week. Martinez, a freshman guard from Houston, lifted the Saints to a 95-77 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor University (Texas) in their last non-conference game of the season on Saturday. He scored 29 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field with six three-pointers to lead the team. Martinez also chipped in three rebounds and four assists as OLLU improved to 3-6 on the season.
Jamel White of Texas Wesleyan University was also nominated for this week's honor.
