WACO, Texas -- Gabe Haskins of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) opened conference play by earning the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for Jan. 4-10.

Haskins, a junior guard from Killeen, Texas, averaged 25.0 points per game to lead the Rams to a 2-0 Oklahoma swing. En route to a 94-72 win over Langston University (Okla.), he scored 22 points with seven assists and eight steals. Haskins follow up that performance with 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists to defeat Bacone College (Okla.), 98-83. He connected on 17-of-27 shots from the field (63%) and 11-of-12 from the free throw line for the week. The Rams' victories put them at 2-7 on the season.

 
Additional nominees included Alexander Cossey of Wiley College (Texas), Catrell Currie of Langston University (Okla.), Demetrius Evans of University of the Southwest (N.M.), Dionelle Rucker of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) and Jeremy Smith of Texas Wesleyan University.
