WACO, Texas -- Stephanie Madden of Langston University (Okla.) claimed the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the dates of Jan. 4-10.

Madden, a junior forward from Bakersfield, Calif., averaged a double-double as the Lady Lions opened conference play with a pair of victories. On Thursday, she poured in 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to sink Huston-Tillotson University (Texas), 100-60. Two days later, Madden racked up 23 points and nine boards to help Langston overwhelm Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), 95-56. For the week, she made 17-of-29 shots from field goal range (58.6%) and chipped in four assists, four blocks and six steals. Langston is 7-6 on the season.

 
Other nominees included Ashley Brooks of Jarvis Christian College (Texas), Sirena Medrano of the University of the Southwest (N.M.), Eliana Mijangos of Texas Wesleyan University and Latoya Murray of Wiley College (Texas).
