WACO, Texas -- Gabe Haskins of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) earned recognition as the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance over the dates of Jan. 18-24.
Haskins, a junior guard from Killeen, Texas, racked up 49 points in a 1-1 week for the Rams. In a losing effort against Texas College, he accounted for 21 points and six rebounds. Haskins capped the week with a double-double effort of 28 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to slip past University of the Southwest (N.M.), 88-86. In all, he made 19-of-38 field goal attempts, including five three-pointers. HT moved to 4-3 in conference play and 4-10 on the season.
Additional nominees included Jacobie Bias of Texas College, Catrell Currie of Langston University (Okla.), James Ford of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), Hector Mukweyi of Texas Wesleyan University, and Marquis Wright of Wiley College (Texas).
