WACO, Texas -- Dionelle Rucker of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) enjoyed his best outing of the season and, as a result, received the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor for the dates of Feb. 1-7. Subsequently, Rucker also became the third RRAC player and second OLLU player to be named NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week this season.
Rucker, a freshman guard from San Antonio, Texas, scored a season and career-best 28 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to guide the Saints to a 100-75 victory over Langston University (Okla.) on Saturday. Two days earlier, Rucker compiled 27 points and 16 boards to sink Bacone College (Okla.), 96-91. He has now posted four double-doubles on the season and finished the week shooting 69.7% from the field including going 11-of-14 against Langston. OLLU climbed into a tie for first place in the conference at 10-2 with a mark of 13-8 on the season.
Additional nominees included Alexander Cossey of Wiley College (Texas), Aaron King of University of the Southwest (N.M.), and Jeremy Smith of Texas Wesleyan University.
