WACO, Texas -- Texas Wesleyan University's teams finished as conference runners-up in six sports this year, but TWU was second to none in the final standings for the 2010-11 Red River Athletic Conference All-Sports Award.
TWU edged Northwood University (Texas) in the final point totals by a slim 72-66 margin to receive the award for the first time.

The All-Sports Award is given annually to the RRAC member institution that performs best in the conference's sponsored sports in a given academic year. Points are awarded to the top five teams in each sport's conference tournament with each sport using a 10-8-6-4-2 scoring system. The RRAC's 14 member institutions competed in 12 sponsored sports this year.
TWU claimed one RRAC title this year in men's golf in addition to the six second-place efforts in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball and women's track and field. This was the first year for the Rams to compete in cross country and track. TWU also reached the semifinals of women's soccer.
Northwood landed in second place for the second straight year with titles in four sports (men's cross country, women's soccer, softball and men's track and field). The Knights registered points in all nine of its sports including semifinal appearances in three postseason events.
Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) was third after earning points in eight sports, while last year's All-Sports champion, University of Texas-Brownsville, ended up in fourth with two conference championships.
Among the other top finishers were Langston University (Okla.) and LSU Shreveport. Langston repeated as conference champs in women's basketball and women's track in addition to men's cross country. First-year member LSUS won conference titles in two sports (men's basketball and baseball).
