WACO, Texas -- R.J. Harris of Northwood University (Texas) was named Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and his teammate, Jeff Sakowski, was selected as the RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after leading the Knights to their second consecutive conference title over the dates of April 27-May 5.

Harris, a junior outfielder from Fort Worth, Texas, went 7-for-13 at the plate in Northwood's four RRAC tournament games. He opened with a three-RBI performance with three hits in a 13-2 win over Huston-Tillotson University (Texas). After a two-day rain delay, Harris returned with a home run and a pair of RBIs to defeat Bacone College (Okla.). He added two more RBIs in the Knights' 9-8 win over Texas Wesleyan University. For the tournament, he seven RBIs and three stolen bases as Northwood advanced to the opening round of the NAIA Baseball Championship.

Sakowski, a junior outfielder from Arlington, Texas, tossed only two innings in the RRAC tournament, but they proved to be the most important outs. He pitched the last inning of both victories over TWU, allowing just one hit and striking out one to earn a win and a save as Northwood won both games by the slimmest of margins. In addition, Sakowski was 8-of-17 at the plate with a double, two homers and seven RBIs.
