Hopie Perez claimed the first Red River Athletic
Conference Softball Player of the Week award of the
season with her play over the dates of Feb. 2-8, while
her teammate, Ashley Oldham, was recognized as the RRAC
Softball Pitcher of the Week for the same dates.
Perez, a freshman shortstop from Weatherford, Texas,
went 5-for-10 at the plate as TWU opened the season with
four losses at Texas A&M International University. She
was 3-for-3 in the season opener with a double as the
Lady Rams lost to TAMIU, 7-2. She closed out the series
by going 2-for-3 with an RBI in a 6-5 defeat.
Oldham, a junior right-hander from Watauga, Texas,
suffered two of the Lady Rams' losses over the weekend
but only allowed four earned runs in 13 innings of work.
She recorded four strikeouts and allowed only 10 hits.
