WACO, Texas -- Angel Meek of Northwood University (Texas) was named RRAC Softball Player of the Week for the extended period of April 27-May 4, while Northwood's Ashley Westerman wrapped up RRAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors on the heels of Northwood's second consecutive conference title.

Meek, a junior shortstop from Mesquite, Texas, collected two hits in three of the Lady Knights' four RRAC Softball Championship games last week including a difference-making effort in the title game. She was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a home run and a walk as Northwood claimed its second consecutive championship with a 6-4 victory over Bacone College (Okla.). Earlier in the tournament, Meek scored a run on two hits including a double en route to a 2-1 win over Texas Wesleyan University and a 1-0 win over Bacone. Northwood advances to the NAIA Softball National Championship with the tournament win.

Westerman, a senior pitcher from Godley, Texas, collected two victories and a save in Northwood's tournament run. She opened with a complete-game, two hitter while surrendering one unearned run to beat TWU. Westerman added three shutout innings of work in the second round to earn a save as Northwood defeated Bacone, 1-0. She then blanked the Lady Warriors for four innings in the first championship game, which Bacone won, 1-0, before earning a complete-game victory in the clincher. For the tournament, she allowed 18 hits in 22 innings while striking out 26.
