[Women's Basketball] Wiley's Carruthers Named to NAIA Women's Hoops All-American Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- RRAC Player of the Year, Aliesha Carruthers of Wiley College (Texas), earned a spot on the third team of the 2012-13 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball All-American Team. Carruthers was fifth in the RRAC in scoring and led the Lady Wildcats to a share of the conference championship.

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The last RRAC team standing at the 2013 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship fell as Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) lost its first round contest on Thursday. The Lady Saints were defeated by Rogers State University (Okla.), 79-69.

WAXAHACHIE, Texas -- Wiley capped a 20-2 conference season with three victories at the RRAC Women's Basketball Tournament including an 82-72 win over Our Lady of the Lake Uniersity (Texas) Monday night. The Lady Wildcats' Aliesha Carruthers was named the Tournament MVP and three other members of the Wiley team were all-tournmaent selections.

WACO, Texas -- Sharde Henry of LSU Shreveport claimed the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the dates of Feb. 18-24. This is the 17th and final weekly award of the 2012-13 season.

Henry, a senior forward from Lake Charles, La., posted averages of 22.3 points and 10.7 rebounds in a 3-0 week for the Lady Pilots. After a double-double performance with 19 points and 16 boards against Texas Wesleyan University, she scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to spark a 72-59 defeat of Jarvis Christian College (Texas). She capped the week by pouring in 26 points against the University of St. Thomas (Texas). Overall, Henry made 29-of-51 shots from the field and dished out 13 assists. LSUS is currently third in the RRAC standings at 18-3 with a record of 23-4 overall.

WACO, Texas -- Amber Arceneaux-Francis of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) was honored as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the dates of Feb. 11-17. This is the 16th weekly award of the 2012-13 season.

Arceneaux-Francis, a senior forward from Houston, posted 31 points and 15 rebounds in an 80-72 victory over Bacone College (Okla.) on Thursday. She was 10-of-16 shooting from the field and blocked four shots. UST is now 11-8 in conference play and 15-12 on the season.

WACO, Texas -- Aliesha Carruthers of Wiley College (Texas) and Sharde Henry of LSU Shreveport split the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the dates of Feb. 4-10.

Carruthers, a senior forward from Houston, averaged 23.0 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Lady Wildcats. She posted 16 points and four reounds in a 69-47 win over Jarvis Christian College (Texas), then poured in 30 points and grabbed six boards in an 84-82 come-from-behind victoriy over 19th-ranked Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). Carruthers was 10-of-13 from the field against OLLU and 16-of-24 for the week. Ranked 22nd in the nation, Wiley held on to second place in the RRAC standings at 14-2 with an overall mark of 20-3.

WACO, Texas -- Sharde Henry of LSU Shreveport emerged as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the dates of Jan. 28-Feb. 3. This is the 14th weekly award of the 2012-13 season.

Henry, a senior forward from Lake Charles, La., contributed 25 points and nine rebounds to propel the Lady Pilots to a 77-76 victory at 17th-ranked Wiley College (Texas) on Saturday. Henry made 10-of-16 shots from the field including a pair of three-pointers as LSUS moved into a tie for second place in the RRAC at 12-2. The Lady Pilots are 17-3 overall.

WACO, Texas -- Treshenia Solomon of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) garnered Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors after delivering a performance that was the nation's best this season. Solomon is the 13th recipient of the conference award this season with this week covering the dates of Jan. 21-27.

Solomon, a senior center from Sacramento, Calif., posted the highest rebound total in the NAIA for the 2012-13 season with 27 against Texas Wesleyan University last Monday. She also scored 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field for her third double-double of the season. Solomon also had three blocks in the game. The 21st-ranked Lady Saints lead the RRAC at 12-1 with a 19-1 mark on the season.

WACO, Texas -- Jenna Diakos of LSU Shreveport earned recognition as Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance over the dates of Jan. 14-20. This is the 12th weekly award of the season.

Diakos, a junior forward from Ragley, La., paced the Lady Pilots with 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week. She lifted LSUS to a 10-point victory over Texas Wesleyan University with 17 points and nine boards then added 21 points and seven rebounds to defeat Langston University (Okla.), 79-62. Diakos made 17-of-34 shots from the field as the Lady Pilots improved to 9-2 in conference play and 14-3 overall.

Arceneaux-Francis, a senior forward from Houston, averaged 26.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Lady Celts. She posted 28 points and 12 boards to help turn back Huston-Tillotson University (Texas), 70-62. Arceneaux-Francis also accounted for 24 points and nine rebounds in a 75-70 setback at Langston University (Okla.). She connected on 16-of-34 shots from the field and 20-of-24 from the free throw line for the week. UST is now 5-4 in conference play and 8-8 on the season.

Arceneaux-Francis, a senior forward from Houston, averaged 29.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Lady Celts. In a 93-54 win over Northwood University (Texas), she racked up 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. She followed with a whopping 36 points and 21 boards to sink Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), 77-56. For the week, Arceneaux-Francis sank 21-of-34 shots from the field and 17-of-22 from the free throw line. UST moved to 4-3 in the RRAC and 7-7 on the season.

WACO, Texas -- Nashae Owens of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) posted career-highs en route to the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for Dec. 24-30. This is the ninth award of the season.

Owens, a sophomore guard from Pearland, Texas, scored 25 points on 10 field goals made (both career bests) as the Lady Saints dispatched Texas A&M International University, 83-74, at home last week. She was 5-of-5 from the free throw line and continues to lead the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game. OLLU remains unbeaten at 12-0 on the season with a 6-0 mark in the RRAC.
