WACO, Texas -- Reed Lavallee of LSU Shreveport (La.) and Jean Ortiz of Bacone College (Okla.) were named Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Co-Players of the Week for April 7-13, while Tim Hill of Bacone College (Okla.) collected his sixth RRAC Pitcher of the Week award of the season. This is the 11th set of weekly awards for the 2014 season.
Lavallee, a junior catcher from North Delta, B.C., was 9-for-20 at the plate and drove in six runs in a 4-1 week for the eighth-ranked Pilots. He had a pair of hits early in the week in a win over Alcorn State University (Miss.) then drove in a run in the first game of a four-game series against Huston-Tillotson University (Texas). After going 3-for-4 in a second-game loss, Lavallee connected on a double and two triples for four RBIs in a 22-1 victory. For the week, he racked up six runs, three doubles and three walks. LSUS climbed to 17-3 in conference play and 36-11 on the season.
