WACO, Texas – Jami Rachal earned a repeat selection as the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 6-12, while his teammate, Paul Carpenter, merited this week's RRAC Pitcher of the Week honor. This is the 11th set of weekly awards for the 2015 baseball season.
Rachal racked up eight more RBIs and scored nine runs in a 5-0 week for the Generals. The senior shortstop connected on at least two hits in all five games, including a 2-for-4 performance with a home run and two RBIs in a 7-2 win over the University of Texas-Tyler. Rachal also started strong in a four-game series with University of the Southwest (N.M.) by driving in three runs with a single and a triple in a 9-2 win. In the third game of the series, the Hineston, La., native went 4-for 4 with two more triples and a pair of runs scored. For the week, he was 12-for-22 at the plate with two doubles, three triples and two homers. Rachal is third in the RRAC with a batting average of .418, and he is tied for second in RBIs with 43. LSUA stretched its winning streak to 13 games and tightened its hold on the RRAC lead with a mark of 23-3 and 34-10 on the season.
