WACO, Texas – Oliver Christensen of LSU Shreveport (La.) was recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for Feb. 23-March 1, while the Pilots' Jared West garnered RRAC Pitcher of the Week fame for the same dates. This is the fifth set of weekly awards for the 2015 baseball season.
Christensen scored six runs and drove in five others as LSUS posted a four-game sweep of conference rival Texas College. After serving as a courtesy runner in the opening game of the series, the junior shortstop had at least two hits in each of the final three games. He swiped two stolen bases in the first game and three in game two. The Pilots won the second game as Christensen went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. The native of Coral Springs, Fla., tacked on two more RBIs in the finale, which resulted in a 12-2 victory. For the week, Christensen was 7-for-13 at the plate with one double. LSUS took the early conference lead at 4-0 with a record of 9-2 on the season.
