LEWISTON, Idaho – (Box Score) Cody Faulkner tossed the fourth no-hitter in the 57-year history of the Avista-NAIA World Series, as RRAC champion Northwood (Texas) eliminated No. 8 Sterling (Kan.), 1-0, Saturday morning at Harris Field. The no-hit bid is the first since 1992 when Rick Riddle of Wilmington (Del.) held Mount Olive (N.C.) hitless in 1992. The victory is the first-ever for Northwood at the World Series.

 

With the win, Northwood (44-12) advances in the elimination bracket to play the loser of No. 2 Lee (Tenn.) (49-10) and No. 7 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) (42-13) Monday at 12 p.m. PDT. Sterling (48-14), who was making its first-ever appearance at the World Series, is eliminated from the championship after going 0-2.
