WACO, Texas – Kimberlin Palacios of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) claimed the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 13-19, while Gabriela Lopez of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the eighth set of weekly awards for the 2014 women's soccer season.
Palacios, a freshman forward from Austin, Texas, netted three goals in a 2-0 week for the Rams. She notched one goal in a 3-0 victory over Texas College then booted in a pair of goals to provide the difference in a 3-1 win over Bacone College (Okla.). Palacios raised her goal total to 11, which is tied for the conference lead. She is second in the RRAC in points with 23. HT is second in the RRAC standings at 5-1 with a mark of 7-5-2 on the season.
